Project

“Hydraulic arrangements and improving works to Zunaia River's basin for safeguarding of the town of Alleghe (BL – North Italy)”, commissioned as part of the planned interventions concerning public works as established by DGR n°3941 – 12.10.2004. The headwaters of Zunaia river are located in the north side of Mount Civetta, from where the river emerges into Alleghe Lake. Torrent Zunaia's most noteworthy feature is the extreme slope of its stream which causes a considerable amount of solid sediment transportation that becomes extremely dangerous once the river flows through the residential area of Alleghe (close to the Funicular Station and the Hockey Stadium) and the two bridges (one of them on the important Agordina State Highway). Study: filtering weir, based on micro piles, capable of retaining a fair amount of sediments. Preliminary Stages: mechanical surveys supported by constant well logging, dynamic penetration tests, permeability Lefranc tests involving both variable and constant loads. Structures evaluation carried out considering a hypothetical critical event with a return period of 100 years, which corresponds to a flow rate of 80 m3 /s.
